Your career-integrated Master’s programme is run by the Steinbeis School of Management and Technology (SMT) at Steinbeis University.
Your tasks: What you can expect
- Development and optimisation of hardware and software solutions for optical smoke detectors, in particular taking into account the scattered light principle and other relevant technologies
- Design and implementation of algorithms for signal processing and smoke detection, including validation of the sensors
- Development of test environments and calibration systems for smoke detectors
- Carrying out functional tests, including simulation of smoke conditions, to ensure compliance with standards such as the EN 54 series
- Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to integrate sensor technology
- Documentation of development processes and ensuring compliance with quality standards
Your profile
What you bring to your project company:

Initial experience in the development of optical smoke detectors or similar safety-critical systems

Knowledge of hardware development, especially in the field of sensor technology and microcontrollers

Experience in software development, ideally with programming languages such as C/C++

Ideally knowledge of the application of norms and standards for smoke detectors (e.g. EN 54-7, ISO 7240-7)

Analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and a structured way of working
Requirements for studying at Steinbeis SMT:

Very good to good degree (university, FH, DH) in electrical engineering, computer science, mechatronics or a comparable specialisation

Very good written and spoken German and English (at least B2 level)
